List growth_□×

A list worth emailing, not just a bigger one.

List growth is not collecting addresses. It is attracting people who know why they subscribed and are likely to care about what arrives next.

Why the signup promise matters

_□×

Whatever you promise at signup sets what the subscriber expects, and expectation drives engagement for the whole life of that contact. A vague signup box produces a list that opens nothing.

A strong reason to subscribe might be advice, early access, useful reminders, product education, something exclusive, or a relevant offer. It should be specific enough to be worth an email address.

What gets worked on

_□×
  • The signup points. Where people can join, how clear it is, and how persuasive the ask is.
  • The reason. One specific promise, in plain words, that the right people want.
  • The welcome. The first email confirms the promise was real and points at the next step. That is the welcome series.

Forms, on-site prompts, lead magnets and incentives all get reviewed. Discounting is the easiest lever and the most expensive one, so it is not the default answer.

Quality over size

_□×

A 2,000-name list where 40% open is worth more than a 20,000-name list where 3% do, and it costs less to send to. Deliverability follows engagement now, so a big cold list actively damages the sends you make to the people who do want them.

Part of this work is usually removing people, not adding them.

Who this is for

_□×

Shops with traffic that does not convert into subscribers, or a list that grew fast through discounting and now opens nothing. Works best alongside strategy, since the segments and the signup promise need to agree.

Questions people ask

_□×

Will you buy or import a list for me?

No. Bought lists damage your sending reputation and are not lawful to email under UK GDPR without consent.

Should I offer a discount for signups?

Sometimes. It grows a list fast and trains people to wait for the next code. If margins are tight, a better first email beats 10% off.

How fast does a list grow?

It depends on traffic. Improving the signup rate on the traffic you already have is normally the quickest gain available.

Do you clean the existing list?

Yes, as part of the setup work. Unengaged contacts get suppressed rather than deleted, so nothing is lost.
