Email marketing in Leeds

I work with Leeds shops and ecommerce brands remotely and monthly, inside your own email platform. This page covers what is worth knowing about a Leeds list: independent fashion and homeware, a large student population, and a calendar with a few local quirks.

Everything runs remotely, by email and the occasional video call. There is no Leeds office and I do not hold in-person meetings.

Working with a freelance email marketer in Leeds

Leeds has one of the strongest independent retail scenes in the north, from the arcades and the Corn Exchange to makers selling online from a small unit on the edge of the city. Many of those shops started on Instagram or at markets and now have a list of a few thousand people that hears from them occasionally, usually when there is a sale.

That list is often the cheapest revenue the shop has, and it is rarely looked after. A freelancer is the right size for the job: one person, a monthly fee, and the work happening inside your own account where you can see it.

What is different about a Leeds ecommerce list

Three things, in practice.

Newness beats discounts

Fashion and homeware buyers respond to new drops, restocks and small-batch runs. A back-in-stock flow and a clear new-in campaign often earn more than a percentage off, and they do not train the list to wait for a sale.

A list that follows the academic year

If a share of your buyers are students, expect a rise in September and a dip in summer as people leave the city. Suppress addresses that go quiet, and do not judge the whole list on a July open rate.

Local events, local sends

Leeds Festival over the August bank holiday and the Christmas market can move certain products. If they matter to what you sell, segment by location and send the local version only to local subscribers.

January and February are slow for fashion, which makes them good months to fix flows and templates. Spring is when new-season stock lands and the list is most receptive to it.

Black Friday is a decision rather than an obligation. Plenty of Leeds independents do better by skipping it and saying why, then putting the effort into Small Business Saturday in early December and the last-order dates before Christmas.

None of that needs a bespoke strategy. It needs a calendar agreed in advance, so nothing is written in a panic.

How the monthly work runs, wherever you are

The arrangement is the same for a Leeds brand as for one anywhere else. Everything runs remotely, by email and the occasional video call. There is no Leeds office and I do not hold in-person meetings, which is part of why the price is what it is.

I work inside your existing email platform. Campaigns get written and sent, the flows your plan covers get built and looked after, list health gets checked, and you get one page of numbers every 30 days. The pricing page has the numbers, and getting started sets out the first month week by week.

What the first ninety days looks like

Month one: fix and build

Deliverability and list hygiene first, then the first flows your plan covers, usually welcome and abandoned cart. Nothing new gets sent into a broken account.

Month two: rhythm

Campaigns on an agreed calendar, drafted a fortnight ahead, in a template built for a phone. Further flows go in behind them if your plan includes them.

Month three: segment and refine

By now there is enough data to split the list properly and improve individual emails on their own numbers rather than guesses. The services page covers the ongoing shape of it.

Leeds email marketing FAQs

Do you meet clients in Leeds?

No. Everything runs remotely, by email and, when it helps, a video call. You are never waiting for a meeting to get an answer.

Is my list too small to bother with?

Usually not. A few hundred engaged subscribers is enough for a welcome series and an abandoned cart flow to earn their keep. The small business guide covers what to do first.

Do you reply to my customers?

No. Replies from your customers land in your inbox and stay yours to answer. I answer your questions about the email work.

What do you need to get started?
