A dated flow triggered by a birthday collected at signup, or by the anniversary of a first order. Small audience per send, consistently strong response, almost no upkeep once built.
One email a year per person, sent when they are already thinking about buying something for themselves.
A dated flow triggered by a birthday collected at signup, or by the anniversary of a first order. Small audience per send, consistently strong response, almost no upkeep once built.
Do not ask for it in the signup form. Ask in the welcome series, or in a preference centre, once someone already has a reason to tell you. Month and day is enough, and asking for a birth year loses people.
Send a few days before, not on the day, so it is useful. Give something with a real value: a gift with purchase, free postage, or a genuine discount with a two-week expiry. An email that just says happy birthday is a wasted send.
The anniversary version works well paired with winback for customers who never reordered.
